By January 2018, all those bulky STCW Certificate will just be a thing of the past. MARINA recently disclose in its Facebook page that they intend to go paperless transaction for STCW related documentation for Filipino seafarers. At MARINA SRN, all our documents and certificates will be in digital format.
The agency did not specify on to what the new procedures or process that a seafarer will take under this new system.
What’s the take?
In relation to this, the Filipino seafarer on his/her part must have an SRN (Seafarers Registration Number). This number will serve as the seafarer’s permanent number when transacting with the agency. Think of your SS number, this goes the same way.

In creating SRN, you also have created your SCS profile (Seafarer Certification System) in which all your digital documents are saved and kept.
Make sure not to forget your email address and password when you create your SRN. This is the same username and password to be used in logging into your SCS profile.

Here are the guidelines:
• Go visit the official website: http://stcw.marina.gov.ph/scsv2.0/
• Encode your Seafarer’s Identification Record Book (SIRB) Number and your date of birth (Month/Day/Year)
• Click the “Check data” tab.
If you encounter error, kindly proceed to Information and Communication Technology Management Division (ICTMD) in order to assist you. Their office is located at 6th Floor Parkview Plaza, Taft Avenue cor. TM Kalaw Street, Ermita, Manila.
There you have it mates. MARINA is gearing up towards another level. We are hoping that the new process and procedures will be more efficient, fast, less hasstle and of course, less costs.
