As this new system come into place, only but a few knows its functions and uses. Let’s do some informative task in today’s blog. Let’s explore the MARINA Online Appointment system portal.
It is called MISMO or MARINA Integrated Seafarers Management Online System. The old online appointment system does not need any registration whatsoever. But the latest two online service need to have a registration to the system. We think that this new system will soon replace those 2 online services before it.
Yes, we were right, MARINA is syncing SCS accounts with the new online appointment system. You can follow the Facebook thread here.

The New MARINA Online Appointment System Log In page
It looks neat and presentable with embodiment of MARINA’s distinct colors. Has a few options to tap into: Sign In Button, Sign Up or Verify ID/Certificate and a newly added Exam Schedule.
Sign In lets you sign in with your credentials provided during the registration process. It is better to have your SCS Portal credentials and the new MARINA online appointment portal the same.
Sign Up takes you to the registration process which will take about 5-10 minutes to complete including the scheduling of transaction. You will need a valid email address to complete the registration.
Verify ID/Certificate lets you verify your MARINA issued certificate. You can provide the Certificate Number, ID or SIRB.
They are updating the website almost every week as right now, they have added the Exam Schedule button in the Log In page. We did not see this before.
A new update comes into place, the end-user can now view the examination in Cebu and Davao. Cebu being colored green, and Davao, yellow.

The Profile Page
The content of the new MARINA online appointment system is consistently being updated and improved. We are on a lookout for such changes.
This tab requires basic information from seafarers like name, birthday, sex, etc. There is no requirement on how much information you’ll provide in the system. But it is advised that you provide what is asked in the portal. Leave that information that you’re unsure of.
Click Edit Personal Information button to update your profile information.
Update your profile and then click Save Changes button when you’re done.
The Profile Tab
In the profile tab, you can find medical records, service records, documents, certificates, training and application.
We call this your “qualification tab” as it requires somewhat a breakdown of your resume and qualifications. We have asked on how to upload the medical records since it does not have an upload button. You can just leave it as it is.
For the service records, you can input only what is required in your application. Example, if you re validate your COP for BT, it needs the latest 6-months sea service, so just input your new 6 months sea service.
You can now access COP transactions in MISMO. These are Issuance, Revalidation and Replacement.
As for your documents, you can only upload .jpg, .jpeg format. We tried to upload .pdf but it won’t detect any. Make sure to set your scanned documents to .jpg or .jpeg!
In the certificates tab, we have plenty of these, right? 😀 You don’t have to upload everything as I bet it is going to take plenty of time to do so. Upload only what is necessary. Remember, keep the file size of your documents to be 1MB or less.
The documents that you have uploaded will be detected by the system. On your next application for certification or examination, the documents will automatically be in the list of required documents.
All valid documents are labeled Approved. Check this different kind of status:
The same with Medical Records, no information can be updated in the training section.
In the application tab, you have a trace to all of your transaction with the agency. 
The Slot Locator
This tab lets you search for available schedule in your transaction. You can select which branch and what transaction type you need.
Different MARINA Branches offers different services. Make sure to check the transaction type of your desired branch. Some branches only caters Certification and no Examination. In addition, there are also SIRB on top of Certification on some branches.
As of this writing, there are already 16 MARINA branches and satellite offices across the country that offers MISMO services. Thats from 7 when we start to publish this article.
The Exam Schedule
This tab functions just like the slot locator. It lets you find available examination schedules that you desire. It lets you know the available schedule every day, morning and afternoon for deck and engine officers.
Now, you can also view upcoming examinations in Cebu and Davao. A great addition!
The Contact Us
Shows MARINA’s full style address and contact with built in map. This is a huge help for new seafarers.
Changing your Password
It is relatively simple, click on your name located at the upper right side of the screen. A drop down menu will appear. Provide your old password and then set your new password.
Changing your Profile Picture
You can find the requirements by clicking your blank profile picture and a window will appear. Take a look:
Just follow these requirements and you’re good to go.
The Customer Support
We do not expect this live chat box to be supportive. That is just based on our experience. We asked about how to upload medical records but it has been an hour since and got no response.
P.S. It took an hour for the customer support to reply to our inquiry.. 🙂

As the agency move towards a more digital transaction, seafarers must cope up with this new transaction system. We do hope that this new MARINA online appointment will be the premier online appointment portal for MARINA’s transaction.
