MARINA’s digital shift is on full display. They have announced the latest transaction a seafarer can do in the Marina Integrated Seafarer Management Online System (MISMO). It is getting a MARINA practical assessment permit online for OIC and Management.
This just means that a seafarer will not go anymore to MARINA Offices, line up, fill up some forms, etc. You can totally do this anywhere, anytime!
Requirements will just be your Certificate of Passing the Theoretical Examination and the Application Number generated from MARINA. MISMO also requires a valid medical certificate.
Getting your MARINA Practical Assessment Permit Online
First, Log in to your MISMO account here.
Second, make sure your profile information is up to date then click Select Transaction.

Third, choose Practical Assessment, OIC or Management Deck or Engine.
Fourth, upload or update your documentary requirements. It will appear on the window.
Practical Assessment Requirements:
As of 2023, passers of theoretical examination will get an automatic practical assessment application number. Hence, there is no need to apply for practical assessment permit on MISMO.
Only those who did not use their license after 5 years will have to get the practical assessment permit. Practical assessment is one requirement for COC revalidation for those who weren’t able to use their COC.
For your sea service, use the sea service of your current rank. Make sure also to coordinate with your crewing agency regarding the encoding of your sea service to the MISMO system.

Finally, click Submit. Wait for the application number from MARINA via SMS. You should receive that moments later.
As of February 2020, MARINA removed the online evaluation. Thus, making each process a lot faster.
For the final step, you will now proceed to your preferred accredited assessment center for your practical exam.
When in practical assessment centers…
You just need to present the application number from MARINAs confirmation text. For the above example, it is 20190104000.
There is no need to print the permit or anything. That is all you need to have. Just dont forget the Certificate of Passing.
In addition, there is no need for you to scan and upload your certificate. Your practical assessment center will scan and upload it for you.
