Due to some circumstances that we are not in control, sometimes, we are unable to file for our COP after our training. Some will go onboard ships and process after disembarkation. Some, don’t have the funds to file it through. So the question is, after my training, When should I apply for COP in MARINA?
A very valid question. That’s what we’ll answer here in this blog.
So, When should I apply for COP in MARINA?
All your questions regarding this can be found in MARINA’s Approved Circular 2018-05 dated August 16, 2018.
It means that:
After your training, you have 6 months time to apply for COP for that training you had just completed. Take note, this covers basic safety (BT), Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boat (PSCRB), Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boat (PFRB) and Advanced Fire Fighting (AFF).
Next, as for sea service requirement, please make sure that your sea service is the most recent one. And after your recent disembarkation, you can process your COP in not more than 6 months time.

Then, You must file for revalidation before the expiration of COP or else, you’ll retrain for the whole course. Yep, that’s right, you need to take the full course again, not the refresher one.
So be careful, make sure that you know when your certificates’ expiration dates are.
Lastly, trainings used as evidence of maintaining required standard of competence for revalidation must be taken 6 months before application for revalidation.
