It’s this time of the year again that the UCLM NSA is accepting applicants for its prestigious NSA cadetship program. This life changing opportunity is the answer to address shortage of competent officers onboard Norwegian owned ships.
In our previous blog, we have reveal how to be part of the program. This blog focuses on where to start, what to do and what are the requirements from one of the NSA partner school – University of Cebu – Lapu – Lapu and Mandaue.

Are you qualified? Well then, waste no time and proceed to our NSA partner school. For this blog, we’re going to UCLM NSA for our application.
While at the UCLM NSA Office:
First, please bring the application requirements:
Second, you will need to take the entrance examinations at the respective UC Guidance Center for UC applicants, and UCLM Guidance center for walk in applicants. To qualify, passing score is 280.
Third, you will need to undergo Ability Profile (APRO) Test/ Computer Examination. To qualify, passing score is 2.
Fourth, pre-medical examination (Ishihara, Visual and Hepa B)
Fifth, PI/PLI Examination (On line computer exam to be facilitated by NSA Manila staff).
Examination schedule…
- February 2 – March 4, 2022 – Senior High School Graduating Students (Private & Public Schools including UC SHS Maritime Students)
- March 7 – April 29, 2022 – Graduating college students who want to pursue Maritime Studies (second courser) or college shiftees
- APRO & Pre Medical examination will follow if applicant passes written examination.
Selection process…
- Interview with shipping company representative/s; schedule to be announced.
- Selection is by shipping company representative/s discretion/decision to take/accept the candidate into the program.
After selection procedures…
- Complete and comprehensive medical examination (including dental, Psychological, etc) in a NMD (Norwegian Maritime Directorate) accredited clinic/facility on applicant’s account.
When all the dust settles… you’re finally IN!

Finally, when applying, please bring the application requirements. Written examinations will immediately follow after submission of requirements.
Examination starts at 8:00 AM Monday to Saturday, except Holidays.

Application Information and Requirements
1. Qualification Requirements:
17-23 years old on or before April 30 of the current year
Graduate of SHS, existing college student, college grads
Physically and mentally fit
Natural born Filipino citizen
Single
No derogatory record or was not convicted on any crime
2. Degree Programs:
· Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation
· Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering
3. Bring the following (place in a long size white folder with name of applicant)
Photocopy of PSA Printed Birth Certificate
Photocopy of CURRENT grade
2 pcs 2×2 ID Picture (white background)
Photocopy of Cert of Good Moral Character
4. Examination starts at 8:00 A.M until 5:00 P.M.
Applicant/Examinee is advised to be in UCLM NSA Office before 8AM. When documents are complete, applicant/examinee will take the examination on the same day. Bring the following:

5. Series of examinations and interviews:
· Written examination (SAT & OLSAT) to be taken in UCLM Guidance Center
· Pre-Medical Examinations:

· Ability Profile Test (to be scheduled; NSA Manila Staff will facilitate)

· Interview/s with NSA Phils Cadet Program and Shipping Company Representatives (to be scheduled)
6. When accepted as NSA Cadet:
· Shall undergo complete medical examination/PEME in an accredited medical facility (PEME fee on personal account)
