Total Cost of Taking MARINA Theoretical Exams – Management Level

Are you planning to take on MARINA Theoretical exams? One sure thing you should consider is the amount of money you should set aside to shoulder this undertaking. You should dedicate a certain amount of money for review, food, board and lodging, transportation, etc. If you have a car to use, your fuel costs also matters. MARINA exams costs also includes exam processing like airfare, filing for exam schedule and training fee for Management Level Course (MLC). However, by budgeting your money, time and effort well, you can lessen the total costs of the exam.

In this blog, i will laid out all my expenses that i did during the entire duration starting from my MLC training up to the day of the examination. So that, you will have an idea of how much money you’ll laid out if you are planning to do the same. Read and i hope you will learn from my example.

First of all, comply all the exam requirements as laid out by MARINA.

My breakdown of my Exam Requirements Costs:

NBI ClearanceP 142.17

MLC Deck – P 36,000 taken at NewSim

Remaining taken requirements from my company – P 284 via LBC. I have requested my company to send me the documents i need so that i will not go to Manila to get it (they do not have Cebu office).

Photocopy of all requirements + 2 folders = P 40

Review Center – SBR Promo – P 17,000 (Summer Promo)

Daily Expenses – P 1,804.00 – transportation, training/review expenses (I brought lunch to training & review center to minimize costs)

Training/Review Expenses from May 24, 2017 to Aug. 30, 2017

Board & Lodging – P 2500 x 3 months = P 7500

Groceries & Supplies – P 750 per week x 14 weeks = P 10500

Exam Schedule Filing- P 3517.08 – Cebu Pacific fare when i filed for my exam schedule.

P 1532.60 – 2GO fare from Manila to Cebu after i filed for my exam schedule.

– P 1000 – MARINA Exams Fee

– P 775 – Includes transportation costs and meals during the exam schedule filing.

Examination – P 3176.12 – Round trip ticket fare for the exams.

Manila Stay – P 200 per night x 2.5 night – P 500

Exam Expenses – P 5016.75 – includes transportation costs, meals and other exam related expenses.

– Includes MARINA Certificate of Passing Fee of P 250

All exam processing related expenses listed down.

OLC Part B – P 21,000 – Exact Cebu Price

P 294 – Transportation costs for 21 days (i bring lunch to training center, to minimize costs)

Practical Assessment – P 19,500 – Great Seas Training & Assessment Center.

P 152– Transportation costs for 4 days (At Great Seas, its free lunch)

P 800– 4 days stay at Manila for Practical assessment.

P 3173.78– round trip ticket Cebu-Manila-Cebu for practical exam.

P 1500– meals and other expenses while in Manila.


TOTAL COSTS : P 133, 432.50

These are not estimates, they are actual expense i have done during the entire process of complying for exam requirements up to the date of the examination. All figures are in exact amount and taken from my app called Money Monitor which enables me to track my all my expenses.

These expenses are exclusively for my examination and does not include any other expenses occurred inclusive of dates from May 24, 2017 (Day 1 of my MLC Training) up to Aug. 30, 2017 (Date of my examination).

If you do intend to take the exams, you better prepare for it. We may differ in expenses spend however, i hope i did help you to have a general overview of the total costs of the exams.
