How to register SSS Online?

Ahoy mate! Have you started already your retirement fund? If not, don’t worry! The government’s got your back (but do not depend too much). SSS is a government owned and controlled corporation whose mandate is to offer social security protection for their members come their retirement age. Since plenty of seafarers does not bother monitoring their contribution, we, new breed, shall register SSS online for monitoring.

Make sure to monitor your SSS profile and contribution since there have been many issues of false loans that has been committed by other members to another member’s SSS contribution. So it is vital that you monitor your SSS account from time to time. Do not wait until you are nearing your retirement age, because you know, there are plenty surprises in life and take note, SSS keeps records only for the last 10 years. If your problem is way beyond that, you will have a hard time resolving it.

So, for us to start on how to create, register and view your contributions online, please prepare your SSS Number or UMID CRN and a valid email address.

So, how to register SSS online? Follow these simple steps..

  1. Go to www.sss.gov.ph, on the right side of the screen, select Click here, in response to Not yet registered in My.SSS?

2. You will be redirected to the next window that looks like the picture below. You can choose to have these different options but for this blog, we will use UMID CARD.

3. After choosing UMID CARD, you will be redirected to your the next Step: Fill out the information needed.

4. On the lower part, enter your Mother’s Maiden name instead of the UMID CARD Pin Code.

5. Tick the box to accept Terms of Service. You will be asked to verify your registration via your email address provided. It usually takes 20-30 minutes for that email to arrive. Check your email inbox and click the link from [email protected].

6.  After clicking the link, set your SSS password so that you can log in to your account. Please remember your nominated password and username for you will log in to your account using those credentials.

7. Logging in: Enter your username and password to the Member’s Log In area.

8. You can view your table of contribution only on Internet Explorer 11. But if you click the download link, it is not compatible on most computers since they are already running Windows 8.1 or 10. See screenshot:

9. Other alternative is to use Opera Web Browser. Log in to your SS Portal. Hover on to E-Services and then select Inquiry. Enable pop up window in Opera Web Browser by clicking the “blocked content” in the upper right side of the window.

10. Click on Member Info, and then choose Actual Premiums.

You can now view your actual contributions per records from the SSS. Check with your employer first if ever you have some clarifications.

Finally, as an OFW, we are pegged at the maximum monthly salary credit. It is up to your employer if how much will he match for your social security. 120 months is the minimum required monthly contribution for you to be entitled to your retirement benefits. Please do check your SSS from time to time since there are companies who do not do their part as employer. It is better to be sure than to be sorry.
