MARINA Suspends 6 month rule

MARINA issues advisory suspending the 6 month rule in regards to COP processing.

What this means?

All those seafarers who missed the 6 month window can now process their COP using their existing training certificates.

Example: if you completed PSCRB training on October 27, 2015, you can use that PSCRB training certificate to have your COP in PSCRB.

The expiration of that PSCRB COP will then be on October 27, 2020. Good for 5 years after your training is complete.

Thus, will make you to take only the PSCRB refresher instead of taking up full course again.

STCW Advisory

Will this be permanent?

The advisory says “until full implementation of one (1) evaluation system of MISMO”. So this is not a permanent rule.

MISMO system is being developed for further and much wider scope in processing our STCW certificates.
