There are a lot of changes to the way we do this now. A much better and more convenient way to process COP renewal since there will be no appearances to MARINA offices. On top of it, there is no need to take up refresher courses, we only need to present an attestation letter as documentary evidence that we do trainings/drills onboard.

What are MARINA COP Renewal requirements?

You can find in this article the list of all COP for renewal. It doesn’t need much as compared to the Issuance requirements. Just be careful with your sea service requirements.

In this example, we will use AFF (Advance Fire Fighting).

Uploading of requirements in MISMO

Step 5 – Once you already have a copy of the documents required or your training is complete, you can now upload this into the MISMO platform.

Please be careful when you upload the files. Make sure that you know the labels of the items beside the requirements, take a look:

APPROVED means the document has been verified by the MARINA Evaluator.

RESUBMIT means that you have to submit again the document labeled with this.

UPLOADED means that the document is uploaded & submitted successfully.

DRAFT means that the document uploaded is pending for submission

There maybe some documentary requirements that needs to be uploaded by your agency or your school or training center where you enrolled for a course. Make sure to confirm with the institution about their role in uploading such documents your MISMO profile.

Initial & Final Evaluation

Once all requirements are met, you will have to click the Submit button.

MARINA will send you a text message informing you that they have received your application. They will subsequently update you via text messages of the status of your application.

There is absolutely no need to go to a MARINA Office for this your COC renewal. Normally at best, it’ll take the agency a week to complete this process.

If there is something wrong about your application, they will also inform you via a text message.

Payment Process

Step 6 – After clicking the Submit button, you will now proceed to the payment portal. Pay the corresponding fees as follows:

COP: Regular – P130 ; Expedite: P330

Choose between Bayad Center or Visa/Mastercard options. As of this writing, Visa/Mastercard option does not work well. So i suggest, you use the Bayad Center option for your payment.

After choosing Bayad Center as payment method, click Proceed.

You will then be redirected to the payment window where you can see your reference number. It will also be sent via SMS.

Pay via GCash, BPI App or in Bayad Centers. After payment, you will receive an acknowledgement via SMS along with the instructions for final evaluation.

Final Evaluation & Printing of COP Certificates

Step 7 – As of February 2020, MARINA removed the online evaluation. Thus, making the process faster. It will directly be for the Final Evaluation. Once approved, the certificates will reflect in MISMO.

Thereafter, it can be printed into an A4 size bond paper. If you’re not approved, you will also be notified via text on what deficiencies you need to comply.

Personal appearance is not a requirement in any case unless there is some problems with your documents. Nevertheless, it will be the only time the applicant will go to nearest MARINA office.

To sum it up, the entire process can be done without going to any MARINA Offices. You can have your COP within a weeks time, far from what we have before the MISMO era.
