One of the basic requirements to acquire if ever you want to become a seafarer is the Basic Safety Training. This training is also a requirement in getting your SIRB. Why do I need to have a Basic Training?
Not just for compliance, it is vital that you know the reason why you are getting a Basic Training Course. You need to have a Basic Training for Safety in order for you to fulfill the requirements laid out in STCW Regulation VI/1.

What Basic Training course should i take?
Do not be confused on what Basic Training to take. For your information, there are 2 types of Basic Training available – Basic Training (which is 10 day full course) and Basic Training Refresher (2-3 days).
What to take? If you did not take any Basic Training in the past, then you need to take the Basic Training Full Course. Take only the Basic Training Refresher if you are going to revalidate or renew your COP in Basic Training. This event occurs every 5 years.

We’ll, you wont find this a problem. There are plenty of them outhere. With a cost of less than Php 5,000, this 10-day training will give you an idea on what to expect in relevance to your safety duties onboard. This includes overview on how to deal with emergencies, basic knowledge on survival, firefighting, medical first aid and relationships onboard.
After completion of this training, you will be given a Certificate of Completion of Basic Training. You’re all set for the next step.
BT COP Issuance Application
MARINA has embraced the digital age and therefore, all transactions in the office are now online. MISMO or MARINA Integrated Seafarers Management Online is the primary tool for transacting with this agency. In effect, the end-user must have a MISMO account for them to proceed to the next step.
So before you can file for BT COP Issuance, you must have a valid SRN and MISMO account. Don’t have one? Click here.
Now, I assume that you have already a valid SRN and a MISMO account. If you have this two, you can now apply for BT COP Issuance. How? Just follow these simple steps:
First, log in to your MISMO account by going to https://online-appointment.marina.gov.ph/.
Second, is your profile up to date? Do you have profile picture? If yes, then proceed to click Select Transaction button.
This is the is the Transaction window. You can choose what you want to transact here.
Next, Click Certification and then tick Issuance. Select Class. After you select Class, the Select Function will be available. Choose BASIC TRAINING (BT).
Tick the declaration button. Then click Proceed.
You can notice that there is a drop down button that says Certification 1. It means it is the first certification that the system will receive upon your application. If you want to add another Certification, say another COP, just click Add Certification.
After you click Proceed, you will be redirected to the Application page. Your application will be saved as draft until you click the submit button. But before you click that, upload the requirements first.
Basic Training COP Requirements via MISMO
For applicants who do not have an SIRB yet, click here on how to process this document via MISMO.
Remember, only 1MB is the file size. After you have uploaded all the required requirements, you can scroll up and click the Submit button.
Then, choose a processing center, appointment date and time. Then click Proceed.
A reference number will be sent to you. Use that reference number for payment of your transaction.
Pay the corresponding fees to an authorized payment partners.
After payment, you will receive an acknowledgement via SMS along with the instructions for final evaluation.
Final Evaluation…
Go to the appointment date and time you set in MISMO. Bring all original documents for verification. Your BT COP will be issued after everything has been checked and verified.
As of February 2020, MARINA removes the online evaluation for all ISSUANCE processes. Therefore, it is of great relief to our mates because this step is consumes time the most.
