SCS to discontinue to give way to full MISMO implementation

MARINA’s Seafarers Certification System (SCS) is set to discontinue in the coming weeks. The reason behind is to give way to its new online service, MISMO.

As disclosed in their Facebook page, the access to the SCS System will be blocked starting February 11, 2019 until further notice.

What does this mean to me?

There’s not reason for concern as a new seafarer can just go directly to the new appointment website and register via SIRB. That is practically the same process on how to create SRN.

Your SRN will now be provided via the new appointment portal, not via SCS as previously done.

On the other hand, to seafarers with SCS account but not yet in sync with MISMO, no need to do anything. Just wait for the migration of SCS data to MISMO to finish, then you can log in using your SCS credentials.

If you have already sync both accounts, then you can log in as normal. If you cant, its probably because the migration of data is on going.

The future…

In the future, this new online appointment system will be the only operational online service to cater seafarer’s STCW needs and transactions.

The system is relatively new, however, we can see that there is plenty of room for expansion.

Right now, a seafarer can set an appointment for COPs, SIRBs and Theoretical examinations. Although not all functions are running smoothly yet, in due time, all systems shall serve its purpose.

MARINA’s Regional Offices shall soon be accepting MISMO appointments and processes. Therefore, a huge relief for seafarers from the province.
